Big News!
We have some exciting news to share! If you have noticed we’ve been a little quiet around here this summer it is because we have been working on some big plans, years in the making, and dreams are coming true around here! Lance and I both turned 30 this last spring and fresh off the wanderlust high of a ten-day Hawaii trip, we made a big decision!

We are taking a FAMILY GAP YEAR!! This week we finish packing up our apartment, sell off our furniture, and say such bittersweet goodbyes to a life we love here in Minnesota. Next week we begin a new adventure!!
We will spend the year road tripping across America with stops to see many friends and family along the way. We are staying open to any possibilities that may come our way but have plans to spend the fall in Northern MN, Oregon, and Colorado. We will sit this winter out (first for all of us!) in Texas, working and living with family that we cannot wait to spend more time with. I will write more in the upcoming weeks about the deeper reasons we chose to travel but above all we are looking forward to spending almost everyday all together for the first time in Adelyn’s life, and for the opportunity for her to get to know and connect with family all along the way.

We are also using this year to invest in ourselves and take opportunities to guide us into our next career paths once we do settle down again. Alayna is going to be studying yoga with hopes to complete 200hr Yoga Teacher Training sometime during the year, checking out and writing about different educational approaches across the United States, and developing web content to share her love of Nature Schooling with a wider audience.

This summer Lance completed his certification to be a fly fishing guide at Sweet Waters Guide School in Montana. This trip will give him the opportunity to fish rivers all over the country, gaining skills and confidence as he begins his guiding career. He will also be studying and refining his photography skills. Adelyn will be studying rock climbing, National Parks Jr Ranger Programs, attending Free Forest School in woods, and creeks, and deserts, and greenbelts across the states.

I am so excited to tell you more about it but for now…we gotta pack!! I plan on writing more here but follow us on Instagram for more updates on where we are today!
